Supported by the UN refugee agency, the Pakistan government is registering people in earthquake relief camps to provide a comprehensive profile of camp populations and movements. This information will prove very useful not just for aid distribution but also for reconstruction and rehabilitation.

UNHCR hands over first orthopaedic bed from Brad Pitt to Islamabad hospital

The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences today received the first of 40 orthopaedic beds donated by actor Brad Pitt through UNHCR. The beds will help earthquake victims with spinal injuries by preventing bed- and pressure-sores, and will hopefully inspire funding of rehabilitation and vocational training.
