- Senior Administrative Assistant
Overview:
UNHCR Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) is looking to fill a new role based in the Division of External Relations (DER) international office in London. This role, a Senior Administrative Assistant, is an initial 6 month contract to help support the Head of Service for PSFR who is re-locating from Geneva to London.
We need someone who is dynamic with a can do attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is experienced in administration and project co-ordination and delivery. Experience in supporting a Director at senior level, international fundraising/global development and an understanding of, and passion for, the refugee cause is desirable.
Senior Administrative Assistant:
The Head of Service for UNHCR’s Private Sector Fund Raising requires a superb and highly organised Senior Administrative Assistant (PA role) to support the Head of Service and the daily functions of their office. The Senior Administrative Assistant will perform Administrative, Human Resources and Secretarial tasks in this service.
Essential to this role is being an expert organiser with attention to detail, with experience in co-ordinating international travel. You must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to liaise confidently with individuals at all levels especially on confidential and sensitive matters. A strong dedication to the role is important, as this will be a fast paced environment, with in-depth exposure to the exciting world of international fundraising and UNHCR.

The UNHCR London Internship Programme
UNHCR's London office is seeking interns to provide important support in Legal Protection, External Affairs, Fundraising and Admin teams.
This is an invaluable opportunity to gain first-hand experience with the UN's refugee agency, while contributing to the protection of asylum seekers and refugees.
The internships are full time for a period of six months. Office hours are 09.00-17.30 Monday-Thursday and 09.00-15.00 on Fridays. Please note, Internships are unpaid and valid work visas, if required, are the responsibility of applicants
- Fundraising Support Intern
The role of the Fundraising Support intern will be to primarily assist the Senior Private Sector Fundraising Admin Associate and provide support to the Global Private Sector Fundraising Office.
We are looking for a graduate who has a commitment to refugee issues and a desire to develop their skills and experience in general administration, finance and fundraising.
Tasks will include:
1. acting as the focal point for all travel and visa arrangements for internal and external staff members;
2. processing expense claims and VAT/APD claims;
3. assisting with the monthly earmarking of donations;
4. organising meetings and arranging catering;
5. taking the minutes of meetings;
6. drafting correspondence on general administrative and financial tasks;
7. undertaking filing and mailings, including the Diplomatic Pouch; and
8. supporting the work of the Global Private Sector Fundraising office.

- Legal Protection Internships
The work of UNHCR's Legal Protection Unit is supported by a team of high calibre and dedicated interns who perform a range of tasks including legal analysis, research, drafting, policy-based work and individual casework. There are currently four Legal Protection internship positions, each lasting for a period of six months and with different start dates throughout the year. We are looking for talented graduates with a legal background and a commitment to refugee issues.
Please also note that internships in the legal protection department at UNHCR London are full-time and for six months. UNHCR London does not generally make provision for work experience or part-time volunteering in the legal protection department at UNHCR London.

- External Relations Internship
Playing a key role in a small but wide-ranging External Relations unit, the external relations intern is responsible for daily parliamentary and press monitoring, as well as website management and new media output. Other duties include responding to requests from journalists and the public and assisting in event management. Previous knowledge of website management, media relations, parliamentary affairs or public outreach campaigns an advantage.
The position is an exciting opportunity to work in communications for a United Nations agency and is ideally suited to someone with an interest in asylum, refugee issues or humanitarian affairs.

- External Relations (Fundraising) Internship
As part of a small office team, this will be an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to gain considerable first-hand experience in fundraising. The internship will last for six months.
Regular responsibilities will include:
- Processing donations and maintaining the donor database
- Organising newsletter mailouts (procurement and editing)
- Drafting thank you letters
- Assisting in organising appeals e.g. newspaper adverts
- Researching trust and corporate donors
The ideal candidate will have:
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Excellent research skills
- Database experience
- An ability to prioritise their workload and meet deadlines
- A pro-active approach to work
