Screening of Sometimes in April

In April 1994, one of the most heinous genocides in world history began in the African nation of Rwanda. Over the course of 100 days, close to one million people were killed in a terrifying purge by Hutu nationalists against their Tutsi countrymen. Sometimes in April is an epic story of courage in the face of daunting odds, as well as an exposé of the West's inaction as nearly a million Rwandans were being killed.

13-15 February LGA Delivering Sustainable Communities Conference
Venue:ICC, Birmingham
The conference will open with registration at midday on Monday 13 February with study tours for those who wish to take part during the afternoon.Sessions open on Tuesday 14 February at 9.30am and close at 5.30pm followed by the conference reception and dinner from 7.30pm. The conference is scheduled to close on day 3 at around 4.00pm.

31 January 2006 UN 60th Anniversary Speech by Secretary-General Kofi Annan
Venue: Central Hall Westminster.
UNA-UK hosted a speech by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to mark the 60th anniversary of the first General Assembly which was held in London in January 1946.

Friday 27 January 2006 Scottish Refugee Council AGM 2006
Venue: The Banqueting Hall, Glasgow City Chambers, George Square, Glasgow.
Guest speakers include Ms Twimukye Mushaka from the refugee community organisation, Karibu and Mrs Bemma Donkoh, the newly appointed UK representative of the UNHCR in the UK.

19 January 2006 Launch of the UNA-UK Young Professionals Network
Venue: Terrace of the Houses of Parliament.
The Network is a new programme of UNA-UK which aims to engage young professionals having an interest in international affairs and the United Nations. The launch event, which is being sponsored by UN All-Party Group Chair Hugh Robertson MP, will be an opportunity for parliamentarians, VIP guests, dynamic young professionals in their 20s and 30s, and business leaders from UK companies signed up to the Global Compact initiative to meet informally over canapés and a glass of wine.
